GEORGETOWN, Guyana — Police have recovered the bodies of Patrice Grimmond and Kevis Robin, two security guards who died following a boat mishap in the Puruni River, Middle Mazaruni.
The Guyana Police Force said the men, both employed by a private security firm, were among four occupants aboard an aluminum vessel that reportedly capsized around 16:00 hrs on Wednesday, November 5, while traveling from a backdam area to Puruni Landing. Two persons, including the boat’s captain, managed to swim to safety.
The body of Grimmond was recovered on the day of the incident, while Robin’s body was found during continued search operations on Thursday, November 6. Police also recovered two firearms—a shotgun and an AR rifle—along with ammunition belonging to the security firm.
No marks of violence were observed on the bodies, which have since been transported to the Bartica Hospital mortuary pending post-mortem examinations. The recovered weapons and ammunition were lodged as investigations continue.
