GEORGETOWN, Guyana — A 43-year-old woman from Lusignan, East Coast Demerara, has been charged in connection with an alleged cybercrime offense involving online statements about Minister of Public Utilities and Aviation Deodat Indar.
Raywattie Khamraj, called Annie Khemraj, of Richardstown, Lusignan, is accused of using a computer system on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025, to disseminate information about the minister that she allegedly knew to be false.
On Friday, Nov. 21, 2025, Khamraj appeared before Her Worship Annette Singh at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court, where the charge of Using a Computer System to Disseminate Information Knowing Same to Be False, contrary to Section 19(3)(b) of the Cybercrime Act No. 16 of 2018, was read to her.
Khamraj pleaded not guilty and was granted bail in the sum of $150,000. The matter was adjourned to Dec. 17, 2025.
As a condition of bail, Khamraj is required to lodge her passport with the court, refrain from posting or commenting on social media, and report to the police on the last Friday of each month.
