WEST COAST BERBICE, Guyana — Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred early Thursday morning on the #2 Public Road, West Coast Berbice, which claimed the life of 32-year-old Azim Khan of Bath Settlement.
According to reports, Khan was riding a motorcycle, registration CR 3710, at about 5:46 a.m. when he lost control and crashed into a concrete fence.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Khan was heading east along the #2 Public Road at an alleged fast rate when, while negotiating a left turn, he lost control of the motorcycle and collided with a fence on the northern side of the road.
Public-spirited persons rushed to assist the injured man and transported him to the Bath Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor.
Khan’s body is at the hospital’s mortuary awaiting a post-mortem examination. Police said investigations into the incident are ongoing.
