Police Issue Wanted Bulletin for Foreign Terrorism Suspect in Deadly Gas Station Bombing

October 28, 2025

GEORGETOWN, Guyana — The Guyana Police Force (GPF) has issued an updated wanted bulletin for a Spanish-speaking foreign national in connection with the October 26 explosion at the Mobil Service Station at Regent and King Streets, Georgetown — an incident now classified as terrorism under Guyana’s Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01, Section 309A(1)(b)(i).

The Police said the individual, whose name has not been listed in the bulletin, is wanted for terrorism that “inter alia resulted in the death of six-year-old Soraya Bourne.”  A photograph of the suspect was made public as investigators appealed for assistance in locating him.

The explosion, which occurred late Sunday evening, claimed the life of Soraya Bourne, who was in a nearby vehicle with her mother. Several others were injured, including 11-year-old Sedyia McIntosh and 8-year-old Rishad Lorde, both listed in critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC). Jenica Hooper and Yvonne Honas sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Earlier reports indicated that three individuals were taken into custody for questioning in connection with the incident. The GPF said the men were assisting investigators but have not been formally charged. Authorities are probing whether they aided or had prior contact with the wanted suspect, who reportedly fled the scene minutes before the explosion.

The Police Force has urged anyone with information to immediately contact the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) or the nearest police station or call 225-6411, 225-8196, and 911.
