GEORGETOWN, Guyana — Police are investigating an armed robbery and shooting that left a 27-year-old mechanic injured Tuesday at Howes and Ketley Streets in Charlestown.
According to preliminary information, two identifiable men — one armed with a handgun — confronted the victim around the time of the incident and discharged several rounds before robbing him of a gold chain. The suspects then escaped on a motorcycle.
The wounded mechanic was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he is receiving medical treatment. Police said his condition is listed as stable.
Investigators recovered spent shells at the scene and are reviewing surveillance footage as the probe continues.
