Police Release List of Top Speeding Offenders

November 28, 2025

Moves to Court for Summons, Warrants

GEORGETOWN, Guyana — The Guyana Police Force (GPF) on Friday released the names of the country’s top speeding offenders and announced that it is moving to the courts to secure summons and arrest warrants for individuals who have failed to pay outstanding speeding tickets or appear before a magistrate.

The disclosure comes as enforcement under the Automated Speed Ticketing System intensifies. The system, launched earlier this year under the Safe Road Intelligent System (SRIS) Project in partnership with the National Data Management Authority (NDMA), uses radar sensors and high-definition cameras to automatically detect and ticket vehicles exceeding legal speed limits.

President Irfaan Ali said he was recently briefed by the Traffic Department and expects “widespread charges” within 48 hours, adding that authorities are examining the possible suspension of licences for repeat violators.

Motorists are urged to check for unpaid tickets at https://speed.gpf.gov.gy and to settle fines immediately via MMG to avoid court action. Failure to comply can result in warrants being issued, leading to arrest and further legal penalties.

Traffic Chief Senior Superintendent Mahendra Singh said the move underscores the seriousness of enforcement.

“The Automated Speed Ticketing System has proven its effectiveness in reducing dangerous driving,” Singh said. “But enforcement must go hand in hand. We urge all motorists to pay your fines, obey the law, and help us make the roads safer for everyone.”

Between January 1 and June 14, 2025, Guyana recorded 54 fatal accidents — a 17% increase over the same period in 2024. Speeding was responsible for 48 of those crashes.

As Guyana expands its road network, the GPF says technology-driven enforcement will continue to play a central role in curbing fatalities. The Force’s message remains: “Slow down, save lives.”

Below is the full list of top offenders who will face legal action if outstanding tickets are not immediately paid.
