PRIMUS: If Azruddin is extradited, his money stays behind to fund WIN; other competent leaders ready to take his place

November 3, 2025

Georgetown, Guyana — Odessa Primus, General Secretary of We Invest in Nationhood (WIN), has asserted that the party remains strong and fully operational, even in the event its leader, Azruddin Mohamed, is extradited to the United States.

Primus stressed that WIN has “a number of competent persons” capable of assuming leadership responsibilities and insisted the party would not face financial strain, as Mohamed’s wealth would continue to support the movement. Her comments were reported by online news outlet Demerara Waves.

“I have absolutely no concern if the party will be losing a significant degree of strength going forward,” she was quoted as saying. While acknowledging that Mohamed was “the candidate whom the people gravitated to the most,” she underscored that his role is not irreplaceable.

Primus further stated that even if Mohamed is removed from local politics, WIN’s financial base remains intact:

“If he loses all of his court battles here and is extradited, I want to believe that they are going to extradite Azruddin Mohamed, not his money — and so I think we’ll be just fine.”

On Friday, October 31, 2025, Azruddin Mohamed and his father, Nazar Mohamed, were arrested in Georgetown following a U.S. federal grand jury indictment in Florida alleging money-laundering, fraud, and gold-export-related offences. Both were released on bond pending a November court hearing.

Meanwhile, WIN is set to take up its seats in the 13th Parliament, with 16 Members of Parliament — including Mohamed — expected to take the oath of office today.

Primus’ remarks signal WIN’s intention to continue its parliamentary work regardless of the legal challenges facing its founding figure.
