March 11, 2026

Police are investigating two fatal road accidents that occurred hours apart Wednesday along the Rockstone Trail and the Soesdyke–Linden Highway, leaving two men dead.

The first accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. at Loo Creek along the Soesdyke–Linden Highway. Police said motor car PZZ 943, driven by 31-year-old Keiron Warner of Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden, was traveling south along the eastern lane of the highway at an alleged fast rate of speed when it suddenly swerved into the opposite lane.

The vehicle collided head-on with motor lorry GXX 3002, which was proceeding north along the western driving lane and was driven by a 50-year-old man from Half Mile, Wismar, Linden.

Warner became pinned inside the car and suffered severe injuries. Emergency Medical Technicians who responded to the scene pronounced him dead shortly after arriving. Police said a breathalyser test conducted on the lorry driver showed no trace of alcohol. The driver remains in police custody assisting investigators.

In a separate incident later in the morning, police reported a fatal crash around 10:11 a.m. along Rockstone Trail in Linden involving motor car PAD 1602.

Investigators said the vehicle, driven by a 25-year-old man from Herstelling, East Bank Demerara, was traveling north along the western side of the trail at an alleged high speed when the driver reportedly lost control.

The car veered off course, ended up on the northern side of the trail and overturned several times before coming to a stop in the center of the roadway facing west.

One of the occupants, 54-year-old Steve George, a foreman from Sophia, Greater Georgetown, sustained injuries and was found unconscious. Public-spirited citizens transported him to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was later pronounced dead by a doctor on duty.

The bodies of both deceased men are at the Linden Hospital Complex awaiting post-mortem examinations.

Police said both drivers involved in the incidents are assisting with ongoing investigations.
