Anthony Fredericks, a 28-year-old gold miner/fisherman of Agatash Village, Essequibo River, was charged with Felonious Wounding and Unlawful Wounding.
The charges relate to an incident which occurred on Monday August 10, 2026, at Agatash Village, Essequibo River, involving a 19-year-old gold miner and a 57-year-old housewife, both of the said village.
Fredericks was arrested on Monday August 10, 2026 and charged on Wednesday August 12, 2026. The Felonious Wounding charge was laid under Section 57(a) of the Criminal Law (Offences) Act, Chapter 8:01, while the Unlawful Wounding charge was laid under Section 50 of the said Act.
He appeared on Wednesday August 12, 2026, before Her Worship Magistrate Caressa Henry at the Bartica Magistrate’s Court, where the charges were read to him.
Fredericks pleaded not guilty to both charges and was remanded to prison.
The matters were adjourned to September 10, 2026, for continuation.
