As JAGS Aviation Inc. celebrates its 12th Anniversary, I felt it was fitting to share my reflections following a recent visit to its headquarters at Eugene F. Correia International Airport, Ogle.
During my visit, I was given a firsthand look at what has become one of the most impressive aviation operations in Guyana.
As someone who has spent a lifetime in aviation, both military and civilian, it takes a lot to genuinely impress me. But JAGS Aviation has built something that speaks volumes about vision, leadership, professionalism, and investment in the future of Guyanese aviation.
Perhaps the most remarkable aspect of JAGS Aviation is the speed of its transformation. From a vision and a single aircraft just twelve years ago, the company has evolved into one of the most impressive aviation operations in Guyana. What began as an idea has become a thriving reality.
What impressed me most was not just the aircraft or the facilities, but the culture of the company itself. Employees are treated with respect and are genuinely valued as part of the organization. Staff enjoy benefits that many companies overlook, including complimentary meals, and there is a clear sense of teamwork throughout the operation. Equally refreshing is the open-door management philosophy, where employees have direct access to management and communication flows freely throughout the organization.
That culture reflects the leadership style and vision of Mr. Brian Tiwarie, Chairman of the BK Group of Companies. His calm, approachable, and supportive demeanor is evident throughout the operation. Behind every successful aviation enterprise is someone willing to invest, take risks, and believe in growth. Mr. Tiwarie has done exactly that.
What stands out most is that he has not simply invested in aircraft and buildings; he has invested in people. The positive working environment, the emphasis on employee welfare, the commitment to high standards, and the willingness to continuously expand and improve are all reflections of leadership from the top. Throughout my visit, I repeatedly heard employees speak positively about the company and its management, something that cannot be manufactured and must be earned.
From the impressive headquarters building and massive hangar complex to the expanding fleet and modern passenger facilities, Mr. Tiwarie’s vision is helping to shape one of the most dynamic aviation enterprises in Guyana today. In an industry where success requires long-term thinking, substantial capital investment, and confidence in the future, his commitment to aviation has created opportunities for pilots, engineers, administrative staff, and countless other Guyanese.
From the moment you enter the facility, you immediately get a sense that this is not just another aviation company. The entire complex reflects careful planning and a commitment to excellence.
The lower level provides a modern and welcoming reception area for passengers and visitors. The second floor houses administrative offices and comfortable apartment-style accommodations. The third level is something truly special: a first-class Brazilian restaurant, wine bar, and the Blue Room Lounge, where guests can relax while enjoying panoramic views of airport operations. Professionally staffed and beautifully designed, it is one of the most unique aviation hospitality spaces in Guyana.
The development continues with a large gym currently under construction that will offer spectacular views of the airport, Georgetown, and the Demerara Harbour Bridge in the distance.
At the heart of the operation sits the massive hangar, a place any aviation enthusiast would appreciate. Inside, visitors can catch a glimpse of the diverse fleet that supports JAGS’ operations, including Cessna 208 Caravans, Cessna 206 Stationairs, BN-2 Islanders, Tecnam P2012 Travellers, Dornier 228s, a Skytruck, and Bell 206 helicopters.
Seeing this fleet under one roof is a reminder of just how far Guyanese aviation has come.
What impressed me even more was the professionalism displayed by every employee I encountered. From reception to flight operations, there is a clear culture of discipline, customer service, and pride in what they do.
I am particularly proud to see two men whom I know and respect deeply helping to guide the company forward: Lt. Col. (Ret’d) Miguel Benjamin and Captain Andre Budhan. Their combined experience, professionalism, and dedication are clearly helping to shape the future of this growing aviation enterprise.
Along with Managing Director Briony Tiwarie-Gabriel, Director of Operations Captain Carl Rodney, Chief Pilot Captain Raveiro Tucker, and the wider management team, they have built an operation that is setting new standards for aviation services in Guyana.
JAGS Aviation today stands as a symbol of what is possible when vision, investment, leadership, and professionalism come together. The company is expanding rapidly, investing in people, aircraft, facilities, and technology while positioning itself to meet the growing demands of a nation experiencing unprecedented economic growth.
My visit left me with one simple reaction:
“Wow.”
As a Guyanese aviator, I left feeling proud, not only of what JAGS Aviation has become, but of what it represents for the future of aviation in Guyana.
What began with one aircraft and a vision has become a remarkable success story.
As the company celebrates twelve years of growth, achievement, and service, I extend my congratulations to Mr. Brian Tiwarie, the BK Group of Companies, the management team, pilots, engineers, support staff, and every employee who has contributed to this remarkable journey.
Happy 12th Anniversary, JAGS Aviation Inc.
And from what I saw, the sky is truly the limit.
