President Ali receives prestigious Visionary Leadership Award

May 5, 2026

President Dr. Irfaan Ali has been awarded the Visionary Leadership Award by the Bilateral Chamber, a recognition that organisers say aligns him with a cadre of international leaders in business, diplomacy and energy who have been honoured in previous years.

The award was presented Monday evening on the margins of the Offshore Technology Conference 2026, one of the world’s leading gatherings of energy professionals, where government officials, executives and investors meet to shape the future of the sector.

According to the organisers, the Visionary Leadership Award has historically been conferred on individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership in advancing economic growth, fostering international cooperation and navigating complex global challenges. Past recipients have included senior corporate executives, policymakers and industry leaders from the energy and infrastructure sectors, particularly those involved in expanding global investment and strengthening cross-border partnerships.

Ali’s recognition reflects what the Chamber described as his administration’s role in transforming Guyana into one of the fastest-growing economies globally, while promoting a model of development that balances energy expansion with sustainability and inclusive growth.

The award ceremony formed part of a high-level engagement that brought together public and private sector stakeholders, including representatives from Guyana such as the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry and GO-Invest.

During the event, discussions centred on global geopolitical shifts, energy security and the increasing importance of emerging producers like Guyana in stabilising future supply. A featured fireside exchange with international experts Kevin Donegan and Susan L. Ziadeh explored how governments and industry must collaborate more closely to navigate evolving economic and security challenges.

The Bilateral Chamber said its initiatives are aimed at strengthening engagement between countries and major global markets, facilitating investment flows and knowledge exchange across sectors such as energy, finance and infrastructure.

Guyana’s growing prominence on the global stage has drawn attention from international partners, with its leadership increasingly recognised for shaping a development trajectory that integrates rapid economic expansion with long-term national resilience.
